The Al-Zohra Welfare Association is a grass root level organization. It was founded by Zohra Begum in May 1991 and is registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance, 1961 for the benefit of the women and destitute families of Sindh. It is a non-profit organization with the dual aim of Empowering Women and making them Self Sufficient alongside providing education and community development.

In May 1991, Al Zohra started working from a rented two room quarter in Punjab Colony, Street No.6, with no bathrooms or water connection. It started giving ration to the women who were Zakat Eligible and a free homeopathic Clinic was initiated by Mrs. Mehmooda Aqil. After 25 years, in 2016, Al Zohra has a Six-Storey building, bought and leased, A primary School from Pre Nursery to Grade 6, 4 Vocational Training Courses, English Language, Islamic Studies and Fitness Classes and Free Clinics by 3 lady doctors, Dr. Naqeeba, Dr. Farhat and Dr. Shaheen.

Free Sewing and Stitching courses to help provide employment for stay at home women

1999

Shifted to a bigger quarter and Tuition Center expanded to three Classes (75 students)

2000

Free Computer training Courses initiated and Ration Card System established

2001

Free English Language Courses

2004

100 square yard bought for the expansion of the Vocational Training and a free skin clinic was started by Dr. Naqeeba Munshi MBBS, MCPS. Dermatology.

2011

Primary School was started with classes from Pre-Nursery to Grade 6 and Islamic Studies for Women

2012

Free Beautician and Grooming Courses

2013

Free Cooking Courses started and a Tax Exemption status accomplished

2014

Vocational Center was registered with STEVTA (Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority.

2016

Free Eye Checkups for all students and Yoga and Fitness Classes.
